Just FYI, re-encoding a collection can be a task of biblical proportion even with an 12900K if you have sizable collection. No point going 4K REMUX on Glen Larson’s Automan or Battlestar Galactica for instance as the measures to film the series in the 80s were really poor. But it really depends of the movie and its remaster process. Joke aside, I am finding myself upgrading many movies to 2160p REMUX lately after upgrading to a new OLED 4K TV that isn’t shy about displaying all the flaws of older encodes I have. Out of room? Add another 100TB to your storage. I mean this is /r/datahoarder after all, why delete data by encoding. How about max quality no encode time instead? An RF value of about 17 is enough to qualify an encode as transparent in most cases. There is a lot of granularity in HandBrake, but you can get by by just adjusting the constant rate factor. Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '”
